One of the most amazing scientist/philosophers ever is Jacques Yves Cousteau...
He didn’t just go into the ocean and video and study for the sake of science.
He chose to explore its mysteries and its profound inner nature.
In articles in National Geographic or on television, Cousteau’s depth of soul allowed him to become immersed in the ocean, as if it were a friend, a living being worthy of great respect and love.
He loved the adventure of diving into its depths and exploring the source of it and experiencing a more subtle world that it opened for him.
The ocean taught him about life.
Through what he learned from the ocean, one aspect of life that he dove into and reflected on was the origin of happiness…
I wanted to share what Cousteau said because I felt that his reflections on the theme of happiness are quite profound.
If you want to get into the feeling of being with the ocean, play this music as you continue reading…
Picture yourself sitting in a boat in the middle of the cobalt blue Pacific Ocean, watching dolphins joyfully playing in the dancing waves around you. Let your mind drift to shore to the tiny bees that gently move from flower to flower…and as your awareness joins the smiling dolphin and the gentle, happy bee, reflect on Cousteau’s words:
“The happiness of the bee and the dolphin is to exist. For man it is to know that and to wonder at it.” ~Jacques Yves Cousteau
In a moment of reflection like this, you are alone within the presence of your own inner Self.
Simply aware, not in analyses…just awareness.
Wow, that state of quiet awareness could make a dolphin, a bee and all of us be happy…
It opens up the space inside for inner awareness to expand.
This kind of silent reflection brings up the subtler, higher dimensions of beingness…being relaxed, happy and connected to the Source of the the dolphin, the bee and all of us.
Happiness can arrive at any moment, with a little quiet time for reflection. ;)
Do Cousteau’s words have meaning for you?
Let me know…
I’d love to hear from you and we’ll see…
how like the dolphin and the bee, you and I can be happy to just be!
