Before we get to the question, how about taking a little journey through time …
Get ready to step back in time.
Imagine you are young, let’s say four or five years old.
At this time in your life, you were taking in everything around you like a little sponge…soaking up the colors, scenes and experiences in your life.
Each day was an adventure in itself.
No one had yet defined you and you had not yet fully defined yourself.
So you could see yourself and the world from the perception of openness and expansion…
Using your power of imagination, you went as far and fast as you wanted to go …
- Have you ever seen a child look at their environment with awe and wonder?
- Have you seen them examine something?
- How focused are they?
- Where is their mind?
- What feelings come up as they explore something for the first time?
Humans are hard-wired for exploration, openness and adventure.
Scientists say that when we were young, under the age of seven, we lived in a constant state of wonder.
And then we grew up.
By that time, our perception and openness to who we were and what we are capable of began to shift.
The Big Question
And that brings us to the big question …
Who am I?
You could answer by saying your name and that would be true.
But is there more to you than your name?
And you could answer with your gender, your job title or any other definition that makes you significant to others.
However, is this who you are on the deepest level?
When you were a child and your perception was filled with expansion, creativity and adventure and you were trying to decide who you’d be when you grew up, you knew the possibilities were infinite…
Because in that innocent age, you were still connected to the infiniteness and expanded YOU.
You knew there were no boundaries and the seemingly infinite blue sky above you was not even a limit.
As you grew up, if you became a bundle of descriptions of how the world defined you:
- Did that bring peace of mind?
- Did your soul stir at the mention of your job title?
- Did the stresses of life and the challenges melt away as you heard someone describing you by gender or age?
Let’s take this question of Who am I? to a deeper level.
Many of the most ancient spiritual traditions on the planet say that you are pure divine light.
And if that is true, why does that matter to you? and to the question of Who am I?
If you are pure divine light, then what powerful qualities and capacities would you have access to that could change your life and the world?
Who are you? in the deepest definition you can fathom?
Why is this question of Who am I? so important for you and the whole world right now?
Let’s look around the planet…
If we were not defining ourselves and others by name, gender, job titles etc, would we see something deeper, find a place of commonality and notice the needs of those who are in pain?
How would our decisions for politics, religion and all organizations shift, if we knew who we truly are?
And if we knew who we truly are, then like a baby, could we look at each other in awe and wonder…and as adults, would we offer each other respect and love?
Closer to home, let’s talk about you. What if you begin to explore the question of Who Am I? and let the answer unfold from within you?
- What would change?
- How might your life be different?
Imagine the possibilities that open up when you experience that you are powerful and divine and can offer the best of you to yourself and others?
The first step in knowing who you are is to find out from the inside.
Literally, get the answer from within.
